Radisson Blu Greater Noida is undoubtedly active in sustainable hospitality—adopting green practices, eliminating single-use plastics and participating in industry-wide recycling strategies. The hotel has always reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by introducing a unique initiative that balances business hospitality with environmental responsibility. While the property maintains its non-smoking hotel status, it recognises that, as a business destination, some guests may choose to smoke. To address this responsibly, the hotel has installed three designated cigarette disposal units at key points – one at the banquet entrance and two at the main porch.
The initiative, launched in partnership with BuffIndia, a leading organisation in cigarette waste recycling, aims to foster awareness, encourage responsible waste management, and build a greener future.
Measurable Impact
Since the installation of the units on 24th May 2025 and up to the most recent collection on 8th July 2025, the results have been encouraging:
- 0.45 kg of cigarette waste collected (equivalent to 1,350 cigarette butts)
- 100% of the waste is recycled into reusable materials
- 0.36 kg of microplastics upcycled
- Over 1,35,000 litres of water resources preserved
“At Radisson Blu Greater Noida, we believe that even the smallest steps can make a lasting difference,” said Anirban Sarkar, General Manager. “This initiative is a reflection of our continued commitment to sustainability and our ethos of responsible luxury. By addressing waste responsibly, we are not only protecting the environment but also contributing to social well-being.”
This initiative extends beyond the environment to positively impact society. Through BuffIndia’s model, the program indirectly:
- Supports employment for 48 unskilled labourers
- Provides 22 stay-at-home mothers with sustainable livelihood opportunities
- Promotes thoughtful waste disposal habits among 5,07,500 individuals nationwide
By transforming discarded cigarette waste into repurposed products such as planters and photo frames—customised with the Radisson Blu Greater Noida logo and distributed as giveaways—the hotel is creating a meaningful cycle of sustainability and awareness.
